Fellowships
LEAP’s Fellowship Programme will include several schemes that aim to foster leadership and grow capacity in Digital Health. Fellows will be uniquely placed to benefit from the range of expertise and training opportunities across the Hub.
Executive Fellowship
The LEAP Executive Fellowship scheme aims to build a cohort of experienced individuals at C-suite level, founder or equivalent across industry, NHS / public sector, and third sector organisations who are looking to network at the highest level through participation in an international Digital Health leadership programme. These Fellowships are offered on an unfunded basis with various exclusive benefits, including networking, events and Visiting Fellow status at one of the Hub’s partner universities.
Solo and Twin Fellowships
Solo and Twin Fellowships are funded fellowships in Digital Health, which consist of a Fellowship period until end September 2026 linked to a funded research project of between 3 and 12 months in duration. Prospective fellows can be from academia, NHS or public sector, the digital health industry, or relevant third sector organisations. The aim of this scheme is to foster leadership, grow capacity and strengthen collaborations between digital health stakeholders to the benefit of healthcare delivery and wellbeing in the South West of England and Wales.
In addition, entrepreneurs or prospective entrepreneurs that are seeking time and knowhow to de-risk a research idea will also benefit from support to enable the accelerated translation of their digital technologies into the healthcare space, including reviews of their investment materials, pitch practice, investment campaign strategy and development of their negotiation skills.
Digital Health Community Innovators
This scheme is designed to bring lived experience to the heart of digital health research.
Launching in September 2025, we’re looking for people with real-world experience of health and care in the community who want to make a difference.
Whether you’re a carer, a service user, or someone who’s spotted a gap in local support, this is your chance to help shape digital solutions that improve lives.
Through a collaborative programme of training, mentoring, and support, we’ll help you turn your ideas and insights into early-stage digital health innovations. You’ll work alongside researchers and professionals from health, care, and technology to explore what’s possible.
PhD Fellowship
This scheme is aimed at PhD students who are looking to undertake a placement with industry, NHS / public sector, or third sector organisation in order to further their development in Digital Health. Fellowships will be up to three months and students will need to pause their studies for the duration.
LEAP HDR UK Black Internship Programme
The Health Data Science Black Internship Programme aims to tackle underrepresentation within the health data science sector by providing Black interns with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain the experience needed to kickstart, or advance, their health data science career. It includes an 8-week paid internship working on a real world data project, training activities, mentoring and access to a post-programme HDR UK Alumni Network. LEAP will be funding a number of internship places on the programme.
