Executive Fellowship call guidance
LEAP Digital Health Executive Fellowship
Call Details and Guidance Notes
Background:
LEAP is elevating Digital Health capability in the South West of England and Wales through Leadership Engagement Acceleration & Partnership, cultivating a multidisciplinary, entrepreneurial, cross-sector Digital Health community across the South West of England and Wales. The Hub programmes comprise a Skills and Knowledge Programme which will deliver a selection of training courses designed for professional learners across the Digital Health sector, a Fellowship Programme that will bring together leaders in Digital Health as well as develop future leaders, and a Research Programme which will fund opportunities identified by hub participants.
Call overview:
Our first initiative under the Fellowship Programme is this call to invite applications for our Executive Fellowship scheme. The objective is to build a cohort of experienced individuals at C-suite level, founder or equivalent across industry, NHS / public sector, and third sector organisations who are looking to network at the highest level through participation in an international Digital Health leadership programme. If your job requires you to think about the major issues facing a digital future for healthcare such as sustainability, resilience, innovation, risk, privacy and security, and you influence strategic decision-making in your organisation, then you will have questions which we can help you address. Our aim is to cultivate a diverse cohort dedicated to exploring both radical and incremental solutions to healthcare challenges. Additionally, we seek to identify and disseminate best practices that are currently isolated within specific pockets of expertise, ensuring broader understanding and utilisation across the healthcare landscape. LEAP Executive Fellowships within this call are offered on an unfunded basis with various benefits including:
- Tailored executive fellowship events for cohort networking, for sharing best practices and learnings and to identify new collaborative opportunities.
- Lectures and discussion time with pioneers and special guests in the Digital Health space and related fields such as service transformation, human-AI decision-making in healthcare, business models and adoption, information governance, regularity compliance, and how to navigate the changing landscape of the NHS.
- Around 8 to 10 events per year, with some in-person including an exclusive social event at our annual conference.
- The opportunity to run or advise on the topic of interdisciplinary sandpit events open to hub participants. Collaborations formed at these events will have the opportunity to seek support from the hub’s research and capability programmes for pre-competitive research projects.
- Visiting Fellow status at one of our partner Universities (University of Bristol, University of Bath, Cardiff University, University of Exeter, University of the West of England). This would include access to resources such as the library and, at Bristol, the LEAP Hub meeting space, and if needed, access to campus facilities.
In return, we would be grateful for executive fellows to engage in hub initiatives and steering, including considering invitations to present at hub events, and participation in advisory group meetings to help guide the direction of the hub and digital health research in the South West. The period of the Fellowship will be 1 year from September 2024, with the option of extension for a second year during a review in month 12.
Eligibility:
This call is targeted at experienced individuals at executive level or equivalent within the digital health industry (any part of the supply chain), NHS or related public sector, or relevant third sector organisations. Your organisation must be involved in health or care with activity or customer base in the South West of England or Wales, although you and your organisation may be based elsewhere nationally or internationally. The Fellowship will provide a mix of remote and in-person events for free but please note that attendance at in-person events will require travel to South West England or South Wales at your own expense.
Applications will be reviewed by an internal panel with the focus based on attaining a dynamic and balanced cohort across sectors and with equality, diversity and inclusion considerations fundamental to maximising the impact of the hub and its benefits to the community. The hub takes very seriously questions of equality, diversity and inclusion and their importance to success and excellence in our mission.
If in doubt, we would be delighted to discuss eligibility questions. Please note that forthcoming calls on our Fellowship programme will focus on energising cross-sector R&D activities within industry, NHS and academia and hence may be more optimised for candidates in technical and operational roles where we will be able to offer funded secondments or matched funding to these fellowship holders; we would be delighted if you could identify and encourage potential applications from within your organisation – please see https://leap-hub.ac.uk/fellowships/ for more details.
The hub aims to accommodate specific needs and personal circumstances but are reliant on applicants sharing this information with us at leap-dh-hub@bristol.ac.uk. If there is information relevant to your application that we may need to consider when facilitating the review process, please contact us early in the process using the details above to discuss.
